Scripture Memory 2009

A challenge has been made...and Del and I have accepted! It was first brought to my attention by my mother-in-law (Lynda), that Beth Moore (a Christian author and speaker) had posted on her blog that she really wanted 2009 to be a year devoted to memorizing Scripture, and she just asked if there would be anyone that would like to join her? She received over 3,000 responses!! How amazing is it that over 3,000 people will be memorizing scripture this year!?!?! It was fun to see some familiar faces that had responded, like Rachel and Lynda (and maybe some others, but I didn't read all 3,000). So, the deal is, you pick 2 verses to memorize each month...one on the 1st and one the 15th. You post which verses you are memorizing on her blog...and away you go!! I am telling you all this for some added accountability. I am going to try to remember to post which verses we are memorizing on our blog, so that when you see us around town you can ask us to say our verse!! Yikes...I'm really raising the bar here! But, Del and I really want to be successful in this, so please hold us accountable! And, if you want to do the same thing...it's not too late!! Just pick one verse on the 1st one on the 15th of each month...and memorize your little heart out!

Here is our fist verse! Del picked this one out.
Jan 1-15. 2009

Titus 1:7-9
"Since an overseer is entrusted with God's work, he must be blameless--not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it."
