My Patriotic Husband

While Del and I were driving home from church on Sunday, Del stopped mid-sentence when we came upon this elementary school. He noticed that the American Flag was upside down, so he took up his "military obligation" to make it right! He took the flag down and then put it back up the right way! Ha!
Something like that would have never crossed my mind. Actually, what was going through my "never want to break any rules" mind was, "we are going to get in trouble for doing this"! Ha! God has truly created us unique and different. But, I am thankful for that.

Flying the flag upside down is not a sign of outright disrespect. The upside down flag is actually a distress signal for times when life, limb, or property is at risk. It has been used in the past as a form of protest, but in doing so, the would be protester is simply telling the world that they need help.

Thanks for the clarification, Del! It was still very patriotic of you! Love you!

ya, I actually found out the whole distress signal thing after the fact. I am no expert for sure. It was probably someone's feeble attempt at disrespect, but after I found out what it really meant, I kept thinking "what if I just foiled someone's clever way to signal for help inside the school?" Which then brought me to my next realization.... that I have most likely just been watching too much 24.
