Ahhhh, I love this time of year. Now, not only am I talking about the holidays (which I DO LOVE), but also the time of year when a new Chick-fil-a opens! Because you know what that means for The Slonekers....Campout!! Yes we did!! As soon as we found out that the new one was opening up here in the central part of our state, we packed our bags, got our our Chick-fil-a tent, and gathered the troops. You see, when a Chick-fil-a opens, the first 100 customers get 52 free meals! Del and I ran out of our previous coupons when we moved here, so we have been dying for a new one to open. Then time had finally arrived!
Del had Men's Fraternity that morning, so I headed up there with a few friends at 5:30AM...and I will tell you that we were NOT the first ones there! No sir, I was #34! I honestly couldn't believe there were even that many people there that early!
Since we were going to be there until the next morning, we came prepared. Michael brought his Bag-O game. It was a HUGE HIT!!
We got so many people involved that we had to start a bracket for the tournament! We even got Chick-fil-a to give a milkshake to the winner! I love this company!Allison and Katie battled it out for the women. They are maybe the 2 most competitive girls I've ever known. It was a good match-up!
Daniel and Michael went into triple over-time! It was intense!
Daniel ended up winning the entire tournament, which Michael wasn't too happy about. He REALLY wanted that milkshake! Which I can understand, they are SUPER yummy. Especially the holiday one they are currently serving! Oh my goodness...I might have to go get one right now!
This is our whole groupie of friends that came out for the festivities! It was a good mixture of couples from our community group, high school friends, and med school buddies. The one thing we all had in common...we love free food and having a good time!
And a good time it was! Once the DJ got there...the good times started rollin! :)First was the hula hoop competition.
Of course, Del made it to the finals and beat out an 8 year old girl!
Mama Sue awarded him with a coffee mug...which pretty much made his night! I don't think there is a better gift for a med school student who LIVES off of coffee!Mama Sue is employed with Chick-fil-a, and this is her job! She organizes Grand Openings! How cool is that!?! She has been to all of the ones we've been at.
So, not only did Del make it to the finals, but then he had to compete in the Championship Round. He got beat...but the other guy was super intimidating (to say the least)! :)
But then there was the limbo contest...which he of course Del did awesome in too!If med school doesn't work out, we're going to try the circus.
I was super proud of my multi-talented husband!!
It was fun because a lot of the girls in our groupie were Pi Phi's together. We are considering sending this picture in to The Arrow. Because you know what Pi Phi's do best....EAT!! :)
It was also fun, because my Bible Study Leader's daughter just got hired at this location. So, she was there to train that night and "serve" us dinner. Isn't she just the cutest?!
This was pretty much heaven for me. I had old and new friends there....and they all got along so well! Katie is a great friend from high school, who now lives in Conway. Her and her husband are addicted to Chick-fil-a, so it was a no-brainer that they were going to be there. And then Allison is the one I did the triathlon with. So fun! We were some of the last ones awake...but once the DJ decided to leave, we decided to turn in for the night!
They woke us up 5:30AM (wow, 24 hours from when we first got there) to start packing up our stuff and get ready to get our 52 free meals! They give you hats and t-shirts too! What a deal, right? Why doesn't everyone do this?!??
At 6:00AM, they cut the ribbon and "officially" opened their doors!
We are all 52 Chick-fil-a Value Meals Richer! That can put a smile on anyone's face at 6:00 in the morning!
Thanks Chick-fil-a for all you do. You are a wonderful company!
