Just in Time for Spring

If you'll remember back with me a few months when a car ran into our house...

...oh good! You remember! Well, ever since then, we have been living with a board and a trash bag over our door, tripping over bricks when we walk to our car, and continually finding pieces of glass every time I sweep. Well, NOT ANY MORE!! Construction began a few weeks ago, and I am proud to let you all know that it is finally finished! Woo-hoo!! And it could not have come at a more perfect time, as far as weather goes.

We found some really great people to work on the house and rebuild the wall. We really could not be any happier with the way it turned out....especially because we did a little upgrade!

We figured that if we were going to be replacing the wall, we might as well put in an outdoor fireplace while we're at it! I'm sure you can guess whose idea this was. Totally Del. This masterpiece has his name written all over it.

It works out really well because our house doesn't have a fireplace, and I have not heard the end of it since we bought it. I definitely married a man that needs fire. He loves it. That's all I can say.

Construction progressed fairly quickly...but obviously not quick enough for Burt because this is what he did every time we let him out to go to the bathroom. He would've peed on every brick if we would have let him. How Embarrassing!

But, low-and-behold...it is finished!

Oh, and "What is that on the mantel" you might ask?
Just a little love memento from the nice gentlemen that hit our house. ha!
Yes, that would be his side mirror. There were more remnants, but I disposed of them before Del could create an entire shrine.

So, if you ever want to join us, this is where we will be spending many-a-nights during the next few years of living here. Our umbrella got destroyed in the crash, so we are on the lookout for a new one....but other than that, I think our patio is complete. Well...except for maybe a cute wreath to put above the fireplace, of course!

All of the siding was replaced as well, and we put in steel doors on the exterior of the house. I guess you could say, if someone ever tries to hit our house again...I hope they're wearing their seatbelt because they are going to take a lot bigger hit than just a gash to the head.

Photobucket

I don't know if we could love it any more! Sometimes I find Del just staring out the widow at it! ha! I think we are both kind of in shock that it is actually done & we don't have to walk over bricks to get to our car anymore.

As you can probably guess, this is where we spent most of our weekend. It was beautiful outside and we tried to make the most of it. Unfortunately Del was on my case all weekend about not spending too much time outside, because they had just finished some lectures on skin cancer. So, we took precaution and enjoyed it just enough...but not enough to get sunburned! :)

So if you're ever in town or want to come over and grill out...we'd love to have you!
